Prague - also again!

Jenn told me at one point that she felt bad we were repeating so many destinations with them but Prague is definitely not one that I will ever be sorry to repeat!  We went on the castle tour again (because Chopper and I both absolutely love St. Vitus Cathedral) and explored some new places. We had some rain, some sun, ate really good food (a few places that have become favorites) and just enjoyed ourselves.
Our first night we always eat at the restaurant that is part of the hotel we stay in. Chopper found this one on our first trip to Prague and it is delicious!  The kids even get excited when we say we're going here!

Evenings and mornings are best on the Charles Bridge -- crowded but not shoulder to shoulder!

This trip we made sure to find the Lennon Wall.  I was a little underwhelmed. I guess I expected it to be bigger? Or something? Really it's just a graffitied wall!

Of course we went for "twisty things" and William got his with strawberries and cream. It's a dough wrapped around a wooden stick and cooked over a fire. They are best when they're fresh.

We also tracked down Wenseslas Square - the site of the Velvet Revolution - so called because they simple came out and jangled their keys as a protest to Communism. It was incredible to imagine it filled with people just silently doing that. There are benches lining the square that have great quotes written on them to that we enjoyed reading.

So all over Prague they have these Thai massage places and usually in the window they showcase a fish tank where you can have these little fish eat the dead skin off of your feet. Chopper decided to give it a try. He says it's really weird - doesn't hurt though - and that his feet have never been so smooth.

It's always fun to find the pigeons!

Great story behind this. Last time we were in Prague we ate at random at a restaurant that we really liked and it had the most amazing feta cheese I've ever had! We had a conversation with the owner who told us that it was from Albania because Italian feta is becoming too Americanized. So we went back and I ordered something with feta and asked him if it was still made in Albania at which point he says he remembered us because he had only had that conversation with two customers and the other ones were rude New Yorkers (his words, not mine). Anyway the guy is really nice and does great with the kids. He was super impressed that Abby wanted the potato soup instead of a kids meal. Then it somehow came out that it was William's birthday in two days so he took him inside and had him choose THREE pieces of cake to share with his sisters (and yes I took bites - I gave him life!) that were on the house. This is William so so tired but eating his cake and afterwards he told him how delicious it was and said thank you. I love experiences like these where you interact positively with people of all cultures and nations!

I bought a graphic novel of Czech fairytales that the kids loved. And another one of legends.

Trying to get a family selfie

On our way out of the castle we ran into this statue and decided it's the kids' patron saint - she's holding a pigeon.

Of course we had to get flower gelato at Amorino. Abby had hers with a macaron on top.

Then we found a garden literally in the middle of the city!  It was the courtyard of a palace but the palace has been broken into shops and residences and doesn't look like that from the outside but there's this lovely garden in the middle of it!

This is what boys look like when they pose for pictures.

And what I look like!

We love Prague and it was fun to revisit old favorites but also discover new wonderful things. There is a ton of stuff that we only see once and we're definitely tourists but there's something to be said for being able to dip your toes into a place more than once and a little more deeply each time. I imagine that we'll be back a few more times before we leave Germany!!!
